What to Expect
My theoretical approach is both cognitive and holistic; meaning that I believe your perception is your reality and it can affect every aspect of your being (physical, social, intellectual, spiritual, and emotional). My approach tends to be solution-focused, strength-based and involves the here-and-now. The type of therapy I do is called cognitive-behavioral therapy. However, based on your unique needs and your level of comfort, I may integrate methods and techniques drawn from different counseling theories when the need arises in order to explore the road blocks to your present goals.
The most central ideas to my practice are:
- What we tell ourselves is what we believe
- All of our behaviors are purposeful
- Our feelings are not right or wrong. They are a direct result of our perception and their purpose is to work as a signal or an indicator.
- There is no such thing as a negative action. If we focus more time on what we are going to do, we spend less time focusing on the things we want to alleviate
- Life balance is essential to wellness
The first time we meet, we will need to exchange a lot of basic information. For this reason, your first appointment will be scheduled for 90 minutes. The follow-up sessions will be for 50 minutes.
Please give me at least 24 hours notice if you must reschedule or cancel. If you are unable to provide at least 24 hours notice, you will be charged the full follow-up session fee. The only time I will waive this fee is in the event of serious or contagious illness, and emergency, or unexpected inclement weather. I ask that cancellations for Monday appointments be made no later than the Friday before at the time of your Monday appointment.
Fees, Payments and Billing
Most of my clients are private pay. However, I am a Cigna provider. Also, I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for out of network benefits. I do not bill insurance companies for client reimbursement or my fees.
Fees may be paid by cash, money order, personal check, or credit card.
$120 for an initial meeting of 90 minutes. This will give us time to exchange basic information that will need to be covered before the first follow-up session. We use this time to review information in the New Client Packet and gather information for your treatment plan. You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
$90 for follow-up sessions of 50 minutes.
Price will vary with group.
